quadro fx 580 as gui?

Need to se if a dedicated gui card would solve my low fps with no cc nodes. And the quadro fx 580 is the best card i could try with without buying a new one just for a test.

I have tested it and it did not do any good. So Im pretty sure that Im using a single 680 is the slow playback problem.

Hi Joel,

My guess is that the single 680 is not the problem- I tested a Mac Pro with a GT120 for GUI and a single 680 for GPU processing, and the GPU held at 24 fps for up to 12 blur nodes (using Sacha Haber's standard candle test). The GPU power could be coming into play if there is a lot of scaling or other GPU-intensive operations, but I don't think that's the most likely. Usually the GPU only really gets to work when you are adding grades.

Have you confirmed that your drive or drive array is capable of playing back the media at full frame rate? using a lightweight files (like a DNxHD36 or ProResLT codec) at the same resolution would be one way to test this, in addition to a speed test app.

Otherwise, it's possible that your CPU is not capable of decoding the media at the full frame rate. Using a format like DPX that isn't CPU intensive would be one way to test this.

Cheers,

KC

I have tested the alexa footage from black mgic webbsite. With that i have no problem with 24fps.

My dual xeon 2687w doesnt seam to stress that much. 16-33%. Un premiere i get smoorh playback at half res.

r3d is 100% dependent on your CPU speed. This is because red doesn't allow debayering on your gpu. So your graphics card is not the reason for your low performance.

To increase performance, either get a faster CPU (still probably wouldn't be real time), get a red rocket (still not real time at 5K or with more than one stream at 4k) or transcode to an intermediary codec (this is what I usually do).

I know a guy that get realtime in resolve with a clocked 3930 and no rocket. The realtime is with 4k at halfres good debayer. He even got slower disks.

Why cant I get realtime with 4k with no grade nodes at half resoulotion good debayer on a dual xeon system with 2687w? Also if i look at how much the cpu is working its betwen 16% to 25% perhaps 33% on occation.

I think moving the cards around maby solve the issue. I have a super micro x9dai motherboard wich i popular with resolve. I have the gtx 680 in slot 5. Not sure where to put the decklink cards.

Here is a link to a picture of the gtx 680 in slot 5.

Where would you put it? Where do I put the Decklink cards?

I don't know the x9dai, but it's not mentioned at all in any of the resolve config guides. Sounds like an issue with bandwidth, something is holding back your CPU. Perhaps ram?
