I shot a makeup commercial and the lipstick color looks different in certain shots. The original is pink but in some shots it looks dark red. I isolated the lips with a qualifier but how can I change it from red to pink. I think the underlying cause of the problem was under exposure.
Hue could do it, Primary gain color could do it, and a Sat vs. Hue curve could do it. Makeup often changes apparent color from different angles, different lenses, and different exposure. Underexposure is not a good idea for a commercial, in general.
I would not try to tackle the lipstick, i would attempt to relight the whole shot.
The different red indicated the lighting was bad, or the DOP was bad, or whatever, but you can help it along i bet.
If you try with the basic tools just to get the whole area to look more the same you are doing it right.
Then dim down the areas you do not want to affect.
