I am currently running Resolve with a GTX780ti (3GB) in my Hackintosh. With this card, I sometimes run out of GPU memory if I'm grading on a larger-than-HD timeline, but otherwise it's pretty great, for a single card. I'm thinking of upgrading to two GTX980's, which have 4GB of VRAM each. I'm wondering if this will suffice for rendering to 4K (even with temporal noise reduction), or if something with 6GB is completely necessary. I get a fair amount of work that has 4k (or 6k) source, but rarely am I delivering larger than 2K, so I'm reluctant to plunk down the dough for Titans. Anyone using the GTX980?
i am using two titans and never had a problem with
running out of gpu memory. due to a broken pci-e
port, my last 4k project was finished even with one
titan only, and again, besides of the need of caching
on heavy corrected shots, no problems either...
so this option could also be considered from my
point of view!
