Automatically match master timeline with media pool

(Not sure if this was covered, I'm using the latest DR10.1.3)

Remember Resolve always had the master timeline, that when you changed on shot, the rest of the shots from that media file was colored?

Before importing footage or a timeline, I clicked on "Automatically match master timeline with media pool" then imported my XML.

I got all my shots in, but when i color 1 shot, the others from that clip don't have the grade applied.

What am I missing?

Pretty sure Resolve still defaults to "Local" grading, so you need to set you timelines to use "Remote" grading.

If I uncheck "use local version for new clips in timeline" nothing changes. I still need to apply a grade to every edit.

If you right click the timeline, may need all clips selected, in the Color Page, there is an option to use Remote/Local grades.

The check mark you are referring to only effects NEW media in the project... not new grades.

hi Eric,
there is an option to copy remote grades to local which is helpful if you have graded the mastertimeline.

I would uncheck use local grades when importing
Check Automatically match to master timeline
Check auto save every twenty or whatever for good measure
Save that as a user preset so it always does this
Start a new project and import XML
Color trace any grades over if needed
And the newest is 10.1.4

Thanks, that worked!

Now that I have the timeline changing all at once, what would be the switch to make once clip to color separately from the rest of the takes?

[Paul Provost] "then download the brand new manual Feb 2014 from support page and read it cover to cover... twice"
Very wise advice.
