DaVinci Resolve 10.1.3 released
on Mar 19, 2014 at 6:02:08 am

Hello all, we are pleased to announce the release of DaVinci Resolve 10.1.3 for Mac, Windows and Linux OS. Existing customers can download the no charge release from our support web site. There is also a Resolve Lite for Mac and Windows version for download.

This release includes
• Color page GUI performance improvement when using Mavericks
• Update to RED SDK 4.6, which includes support for Dragon OLPF and Rocket-X when using RED ONE clips
• GPU debayer Preferences option for RED RAW clips
• Support for 'Content Kind' selected in the DCP composition name dialog
• Stereo Decision List import for ColorTrace

There is no database update required so the upgrade should be quick and easy.
Peter

Hello,

Great news, does it mean that Davinci will be able to play 5K R3D files fulldebayer realtime (like in the preview version of Adobe Premier) ?

Amazing! Is the GPU debayer multi-GPU enabled?

Anxious to try this out! 10.1.3 seems to install but crashes on launch every time. Any thoughts why this might be? I'm on Mavericks 10.9.2 on a nMP.

Can anyone comment on the order of operations used now for R3D debayer if both are used at the same time w/each other. For example if I were to use a Red Rocket and Two Titans in a cubix and enabled both for R3D debayer, would they work in tandem or would the rocket override the two titans? Anyone tried this? (I'm thinking I've got a red rocket that's pretty much useless now…alas the day was coming I suppose)

what is a better setup currently for generating DNX36 dailies (quarter-res)? A RR-X, or a multi-GPU setup?

thanks

Awesome. Mac Pro 12 core 2.4 one titan in cubix. 4k r3d full premium realtime 23.98 with grade and blur.
5k only 17fps.
With two titans in cubix 5k still only 17fps.
OS 10.8.5

You need to take a holistic approach. In this case the CPU is the bottleneck. You need both a fast CPU and highend GPU. But if you can get a good combo (lots of CPU cores help) the results are pretty jaw dropping. :)

2 titans
5k r3d full premium - 17fps
5k r3d half - 17fps

redrocket

5k r3d full premium - 17fps
5k r3d half - 17fps

while there isnt much difference between the redrocket and titan but i think resolve is not using the second titan for debayeringing r3d also half resolution and full resolution premium are playedback at the same speed :( .

anyways nice fitst step .

setup specs:

supermicro system with 2 titans(gpu),redrocket,decklink extreme 3d,hba,quadro 4000(gui),controlsurface and dolby prm4200,omnitek.

Seeing the same thing on a 12c/D700 Mac Pro — Half Res Premium with 5K Epic footage seems to be basically the same speed as full-res (similar speeds to what you're seeing). I wonder what's up there.

Half Res Good is silky smooth now though, and full-res decodes are actually a little faster than what we got from the Rocket over Thunderbolt, so the Rocket is officially getting retired from our grading suite. I suppose it will still have its place for on-set transcoding (hooked up to a MacBook Pro). Although if buying a system for on-set transcoding today we'd probably just figure out how to pack up a Mac Pro now that it's so tiny, and forget the Rocket.

We're getting 5K full-res in RT on the 12-core/d700.

[Rohit Gupta] "We're getting 5K full-res in RT on the 12-core/d700."

Is that with full frame footage or is that 5K widescreen? Mine seems to settle down at ~18-20 fps with full res full frame 5K material. Same in 'half res premium' mode. (I copied a couple of clips to the internal SSD to rule our storage bottlenecks.)

Hi Prathvish/Chris,

Please make sure that you disable "Use Red Rocket if available". If that is enabled and a rocket is available, it is using the rocket instead of GPU (even if GPU for Red Debayer is enabled).

Thanks,
Anish

Unchecked here (and the Thunderbolt Rocket is disconnected). I'm curious if something might be wrong here and I should be seeing better performance.

Anyone take a close/careful look at quality differences (if any) between GPU and CPU debayer? WIth Rocket quality was much lower, and I am hoping there is no difference with GPU

Instant crahs with anything that has Red files in it.

4GIG VRAM gtx 680 on Mac Pro 12 core - granted I tried it while a screen was hooked up to the compute card.

Also gave me that weird "Red decoders not same number…" error

Where is the setting to engage GPU debayering of RED footage?
I can't locate it in the manual and have obviously overlooked it in the settings panel.

GPU debayering of RED files is CUDA only?
We are testing new Mac Pro with D300 cards and and it looks like gpu debayering is not working on Ati.

[Mario Moskon Sarunic] "GPU debayering of RED files is CUDA only?"

Nope, both.

[Mario Moskon Sarunic] "We are testing new Mac Pro with D300 cards and and it looks like gpu debayering is not working on Ati."

That's a pretty weak GPU and I'm assuming you have a 4-core or maybe 6-core model... that's not helping either.
