Wrong pixel aspect ratio on SD export
on Mar 13, 2014 at 9:38:42 am

Hey all...

First post! Woo! *ahem*

Firstly, I've been a long time observer on the creative cow forums and it's a great resource that has saved my bacon many times, so thanks to all for collectively providing a fantastic resource.

Righty, hopefully this is a quick fix...

I'm trying to export a PAL SD 16x9 ProRes 422 HQ for delivery to AdStream. The source is an HD Quicktime 422HQ with clock / mastered audio etc. Spoke to AdStream and explained our internal workflow/software, and they've recommended an SD quicktime 422HQ delivery workflow, with final output scaled and exported directly from DaVinci.

After a bit of tweaking, everything is perfect on the export except the output aspect ratio is wrong. The headers are showing that the file is being encoded with a 1.0940 / 4:3 ratio.

My timeline is HD 1920x1080, and I've tried setting the Output Scaling Present in Project Settings to PAL SD 16:9, the in the Delivery tab I'm choosing 'Set Resolution to Pal 720 x 576'.

The output always comes out with a 4:3 ratio encoded into the quicktime header.

Anyone know what's going on?!

Cheers, A
