Resolve on new, tricked out iMac?

How do you guys think Resolve would handle HD and/or 2.5K on one of the new iMacs with the 3.5Ghz i7 and GTX 780M (4gig) GPU? Connect some fast storage via USB 3 and an b'cast monitor via Thunderbolt and it looks like it might be a rockin' little box. Obviously wouldn't compared to a tower (or Cubix) full of GPUs but might work well for editors that also color (as opposed to full time colorists).

You would have a nice little Resolve system. Get yourself a good BMD external video card and your set.

I'm pretty excited about this new iMac. I put in an order 2 weeks ago for the last model. I called yesterday to put a halt on that for the newer model. I will be excited to see resolve and AdobeCC work with this system.

How do you guys think it would compare to a 8-core, 2.26Ghz Mac Pro 4,1 w/a GTX 660? I know the 780M in the iMac has higher specs than the 660 but I don't know how overall performance gets curbed for the mobile chipsets.

I'm looking at the same setup too.

A full 660 is barely the same speed as the iMac's 780M...

(The 660ti is faster)
Let's see what barefeats.com sais when they put it under test!

My experience from working on both a MacPro with GT120+GTX285 and my 2011 iMac with a Radeon 6790 and specially a 2012 with a 680M... is that a Macpro is always a sturdier machine, but performance is not that far.

I guess it can't compete with a Titan on a MacPro 5,1 but I still think it's a perfect setup for the bucks.
Get an AppleCare though, we fried out 2012 iMac with the 680M and got it replaced, these machines are not build for 24/7 use ;)

Good suggestion about Apple care. The cooling in an iMac probably isn't well designed for continuous, heavy usage.
