on Aug 15, 2013 at 10:35:35 am

Hello,
have someone tried the Panasonic ZT60 Plasma TV for color grading?
is it a suitable monitor for a semi-pro grading job?

Thank you

I just got the 55VT60 for a client monitor (about $1800 online). Near perfect calibration.

John, are you using the built-in controls or an external box such as the Lumagen?

All internal controls, using Virtualforge as the pattern generator. I've never seen any PF monitor come this close (not sure about BT's).

Hello,
between the 3 Panasonic displays, which one is the best solution for grading:
1- PLASMA TV ZT60 / $3,299.99 / 60" (ZT is the best serie)

2- Studio LCD monitor BT-LH2550 / $3,509.00 / 25.5"

3- Plasma professional Display TH-50BT300U / $4,164.32 / 50"

When you say semi-pro, do you mean without clients sitting next to you or looking over your shoulder? For the money you are talking about now, you may want to go Flanders for a little more. Peace of mind is worth a lot. Otherwise, I think the ZT is selling at a premium right now. Go with the VT (I think Alexis V. is using the VT as his MAIN monitor)

If you go with something others than the Flanders, be sure to have it professionally calibrated. I use David Abrams at Avical to "bless" my monitors, after I calibrate them myself. (I don't have a $15,000 probe!)
