ergonomics and elbow pain

Hi all,

I have recently started to get pain in my left elbow and collar bone which I think might be an RSI type thing. I use a JL Cooper eclipse and a standard mouse. Thinking of trying a trackball or maybe a wacom tablet instead of the mouse although I've never really used those devices before. Any other high volume graders have these issues and what have you done to alleviate?

Thanks
AS

Buy an Intuos 5 mid size...give yourself two weeks...
No more pain, natural feeling like holding a light pen.
Assign middle mouse to the button closer to the tip, right mouse to the one closer to the end.
Do your scrolling with the little wheel..
You will love it...
I had the same probs...all gone now.

Positive side effect, people stop messing with your desktop ;)

A slice of color...

Sascha

do you always keep your pen in your hand, even when you have your hands on a control surface? or do you put down and pick up the pen every time you need a mouse? i'm not really that familiar with tablets, but i'm curious. i haven't learned all the shortcuts on my MC Color (or assigned many), so i still mouse around a lot

Use a WAVE and a Logitech trackball. Biggest issue for me is cervical neck fatigue/pain.

But this was the same even when using a full-on 8:8:8 set of panels.

Your pain might also be the result of the height/location of your controller & I/O devices. I've also found that a display that is too high can be the cause of a LOT of discomfort...

Is everyone going to continue to ignore the elephant in the room? It is clear, at least to me, that poor ergonomics of all panels, while grading using Resolve are due to poor mapping of those panels, except BM panel. Until that fixed, we will continue to suffer. BM may consider including a disclaimer, stating, that using Resolve with third parties panels for extended periods of time may cause physical damage to the end user.

Also, don't ignore chair and desk height. I used to get really bad wrist and back pain until I swapped for an aeron chair, and a adjustable desk that was a bit lower.
