Feature request - Render H264 with compressed audio?
on Nov 28, 2012 at 3:43:37 pm

Seems like it is currently not possible in Resolve 9 to make a Quicktime with compressed audio, like AAC. Many clients want to review a color pass with a compressed file like H.264 Quicktimes. (I know, judging color this way is problematic). Resolve 9 at least added the ability to render audio into the file, unlike v8. But the audio is always uncompressed 16 or 24 bit. That's overkill for a review copy with scratch audio. Workaround is to first make a ProRes with audio from Resolve and then compress to H264 with other software such as Compressor.

This would be a great feature addition. Especially could be useful when making dailies via Resolve. Clients often want web ready H264 files for viewing systems like PIX or Sample Digital DAX/D3. These all want compressed AAC audio in the Quicktime.

Anyone else find the need for this?
