Real time playback with Resolve Scopes open?
on Oct 12, 2012 at 7:46:32 pm

I can't seem to find this issue anywhere with a search. But is it normal to not get real-time playback in Resolve 9 when the scopes are open? I get real-time with tons of nodes even at 4.5K rez both on screen and with Decklink out over SDI. But as soon as I turn on the scopes on the second monitor the playback starts to stutter a bit and jump between 18 and 23. Any ideas or is this just an interface problem of Resolve? I realize most people will use external scopes which would bypass this issue.

I have ahd no slowdown with V8 and Resolve scopes on either compressed Pro-Res or 2K DPX but did not try it on R3D's .

Depends on the amount of GPU cards.
I have a drop to 18 fps on a single GPU MAC and no drops on our 4 GPU main station.

I'm running 3 GTX 680s with 4 GB of RAM each and the fastest dual Xeons in existence at the moment, dual E5-2687Ws with 32 cores. All three GPUs are running at full x16 as well. Way more than enough power. Maybe it's an issue with the windows version of Resolve 9? Could it have something to do with running the scopes on the second monitor? I have yet to install a OS X boot drive but I can try that sometime as well.

What GPU are you using for your GUI? If I'm not mistaken the scopes get rastered out on the GUI card not the processing GPUs.

One GTX 680 4GB card for GUI and 2 GTX 680 4GB cards for GPUs.
