Timecode
on Oct 4, 2012 at 9:27:34 am

Hi!

I work with red material every week, but this time something strange happened:

The TC in Avid, EDL and in the redcineX player window all show the same timecode on all the clips.

When importing the EDL in Resolve, for some reason the timecodes is changed by more than 15 hours.
How is this possible?

The frame rates are matched and I have used the same settings since always.

I am pretty sure you are looking at the wrong timecode in Redcine.
"The RED One camera records two different time codes in the R3D original files in the camera. One is a time-of-day time code, the other is a continuous time code. If the box "Read Secondary TC from R3D files" is checked, XMiL Sequencer will attempt to locate the original camera source files to read the alternate time code directly from those files."

A slice of color...

Both Avid and RedCine showed Absolute Timecode (AC), not Edge - so I had to change to absolute in the camera raw settings.

The DOP said it was a couple of way to record the timecode from the Epic camera - so I guess this is the first time (with this settings) as the timecode thing has never crossed my mind earlier.
