on Aug 7, 2012 at 2:40:09 pm

hi guys ,

we are having problems after updating to the new resolve9 that is we get a error message when we launch resolve saying error" failed to initialize DeckLink card/drivers - please install DeckLink card/drivers and restart resolve".

no output out on the grading monitor :(

did anyone face the same issue and what would be the solution(LINUX RESOLVE)

Did you update the firmware on the card, and did you reboot after that?

I had a similar issue, and submitted it to BMD.

I use Media Composer and was on Desktop Video 9.5.3. I upgraded to Resolve 9 Lite and could not get any in Avid Media Composer either. I tried the new drive 6.1 and the same thing was happening.

I uninstalled 6.1 and reinstalled 9.5.3 and then I had output in MC again. But if I open Resolve, with either driver, then my output in BOTH fails.

I am on OSX 10.7.4

Well, All is Good Now. Although I am still running Desktop Video 9.5.3. I am not sure what fixed it, but a lot has happened since the issue was first posted.

I have upgraded to OSX 10.8, and to MC 6.0.3

The Linux firmware updater command IS case sensitive. You have to type it like the readme shows:

BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater update

Did you type it that way? If not, try it, and hopefully it will update the firmware and solve the problem.

It's also important that you do the "sudo su -" first, as described.

I just tried the entire process on our Linux system using the V9b2 code just released. There is a problem with the readme that may be causing your issue.

Step 3 of the "Update instructions for updating the DeckLink driver" has an error. It should read:

3. rpm -qa | grep desktopvideo | xargs rpm -e (Uninstall old RPM)

If this step was not done correctly, it would probably cause step 4 to fail.

So on step 3, replace DeckLink with desktopvideo (note it is ALL lowercaase) and run through the procedure again. Hopefully it will work better. Please let us know.

I've got the same issue with Davinci 9 (full version) and Decklink SDI on my Mac under Snow Leopard and Lion. I figured the card was bricked.

It appears like the operating system doesn't even see the card at all - but that may be a driver or firmware issue.

If you know of another fix / terminal command I'd love to try it.

Thanks!
