Meanwhile I am color grading everyday with Resolve 8.2.2. What is the feature that you know is in there that you must have (only thing I have heard about is audio exporting)?

Have you tried Quicktime Pro at all? It's super quick to add audio tracks.

I much prefer that they make sure the software is stable and rock solid before releasing it. I'm sure they will release it as soon as it's ready for prime time.

[Peter Berg] "Have you tried Quicktime Pro at all?"

hmmm....no, too hard, but I heard people who've used are geniuses, you might be one of them!

For me, I've been using Color for a while and am finally looking to start my first project with Resolve. I have 8 up and running but with the big interface overhaul I don't want to start learning something that changes quite a bit in 9. Hoping to get an update from balckmagic...i

Everything you learn about using 8 will translate pretty well to 9. 9 is mostly adding features and cleaning up interface, not changing the basic functionality that was already there. So go to town on 8. You'll be that much more up to speed on 9.

Export audio is crucial or DIT work.
Its just not possible without it and will probably change a lot of peoples software when its finally coming.
The LOG grading tools will finally provide dedicated Low mid high controls and add a contrast slider so you dont have to build your own with curves.
People will just love the new interface..its sooo much more modern.
And Rohit hinted you might not need a second GPU card anymore.

All just speculation of course ;)

Does anyone profit from a second GPU-card at all?
Currently I´m running 2 Zotac GTX580 AMP2-3GB-cards in my system.
(Waiting for some components to build a second Grading-PC)
And I don´t see absolutely no difference in performance.

I´m grading on lite, so the rendering performance is obviously the same.
But I also see no difference in display performance. The scrubbing is still lagging when I have the parade-window open.

Yes, the dedicated GPU makes a BIG difference. Both in the amount of RT, but also in stability. As you are less likely to hit a wall in terms of GPU memory issues. What Rohit suggested was that single GPU performance has been greatly improved. But at least one if not more than one dedicated GPUs is still going to give you better performance.

Lite only uses 1 GPU, no matter how many are in the system. This is made very clear in all of the Resolve literature. If you want to use more than 1 GPU, you need to buy a Resolve license.

1 processing gpu, as in 1 GUI gpu and one dedicated processing gpu.

I did a job with Apple Color last week (clients mac pro 1,1) and made me want to cry... I can't believe I used put myself through that on a daily basis. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there for a minute longer than they need to.

Oh, and thanks BMD - sometimes it's easy to forget how far Resolve has come in a few years - I can't wait for v9.

Harsh. Sure the speed and performance was a different league, but the color tools were/are quite powerful. I did quite a few projects on it and I will say the results were quite impressive.

It sure had some roundtrip workflow issues... but Resolve still has it's share of workflow problems as well.

I did my fair share of projects on Color as well but honestly, going back there was not a pleasant couple of days.
