Davinci can't find my FCP source files
on May 22, 2012 at 8:33:25 pm

So received a hard drive from client, the project opens in FCP no problem, export from FCP 7 an XML 5, go open in Resolve. Point it to the directory where the files are located within hard drive within Resolve, but it just says can't link any files (there's hundreds). I check in FCP and it's definitely where the files are located, I even just select the G Drive for Resolve to search through, and it can't find anything.

How can I fix this?

Check to make sure the codec your material is in is on the supported codec list.

DVC Pro is on the list, but I don't have final cut installed on my machine. It says "FCP Installed" under Decode, does that mean I need it in order for Resolve to recognize this footage?

You need the dvcpro codec installed on that machine. The fcp installer will add it.
