FCP - for best results, use self-contained QT???
on Nov 30, 2010 at 6:24:30 pm

I am using Lock and Load X for the first time, and they claim that you don't need to export your clip to a self-contained QT file, that it will simply analyze the clip you use instead of the whole clip, like SmoothCam.

With the video I have tested on, HDV1080i60, the results are SIGNIFICANTLY better if I use a self-contained QT versus applying it to the clip.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!
Casey

This is not regular behavior. Can you tell in which way the results are better?
Is there any difference regarding field order or clip width/height between your original and your re-imported clip?

Regards, Eberhard

Well, simply put, the clip doesn't look like it's been smoothed unless I do a SCQT, and then it looks as good as SmoothCam.

Thanks!
Casey
