tracking canon mxf footage
on May 13, 2015 at 12:31:19 pm

Hi,

What is the best workaround for not being able to track native Canon mxf (C300) footage. Because FCPX doesn't allow me to optimise the footage and proxies are not recommended I wonder if there is any other way than to export the shots to ProRes?

Cheers, Carsten

At the moment you have to transcode to ProRes before importing the MXF into FCP X. We realise thats not a good solution and we are looking into options to get around this long term.

Thanks Roger. Thought so. What I'll do is to transcode the shots I need.
Main reason that I want to stay with mxf is that the Canon Log only works on the native files. Once transcoded FCPX misinterprets the Log curve.
Looking forward to a solution you can come up with.
Cheers, Carsten
