Tracking to keep subject in the center of frame
on Nov 13, 2014 at 8:21:57 pm

I shot some "talking head" video in 1280x720. The talking head for the most part stands still but a few times does move. I am not using the full width of the video since I am placing the Powerpoint slide next to the talking head. Is there a way with SliceX/Track X I can track the subject so that when the subject moves I can keep them in the center of the frame? I know I can keyframe the movement but want to try it with SliceX/Track if possible.

can you please email us at support at coremelt dot com and send us a sample of the video? It might be possible with Lock and Load but I'm not sure, we will take a look at it.

I downloaded a trial copy of Lock and Load and tried it this morning. The plugin doesn't seem to be able to keep the image centered. But after looking at one of your tutorials I keyframed the beginning of the clip and then applied keyframes to the center of clip continuing back and forth half way between keyframes. This seemed to work. I had to get this video done today. It would be nice if there was a plugin that could do that work.

Hi there

This is a recurring question on fcp.co and it is still unresolved.

Some workarounds have been given here and here

I think if Coremelt could come with a solution it would be really successful :)

Hi, this is something we are aware that people want, but there is no "easy" fix for this, We may be able to produce a product that does this but it won't be in the immediate future.
