Zoom out to show everything is happening in a computer game

So I'm making a short film and the twist is that the characters, actual actors (this is a live-action film) are actually avatars in a computer game that are being controlled by a real-life player. I want a shot that starts as a wide shot from inside their house and zooms until it is an over the shoulder shot of the player and we see that all of this has been occurring on his computer screen, which now depicts the characters as their true computerized selves. What is the best way to do this??

These kinds of sequences are often composed in reverse, that way all the elements will be sure to line up, and the freeze frame from once scene becomes the starting frame of the next. ZGo look up youtube clips on HP commercials, you'll see HP Pronters' oroginal use of the technique, and abunch of creative amateurs using the same technique. It may give you some ideas.
