Mapping effects to gradient in FCP

Mapping effects to gradient in FCP

Hi guys

Is it possible to map an effect to a gradient in FCP, for example mapping a blur to create a gradient blur, ive tried messing about but have had no results

To create a Gradient blur:

Top Layer- Video Clip
Mid Layer - Gradient ( This can be found in the Viewer, Click on the A in the Filmstrip button, Go to Render, Choose Gradient.)
Bottom Layer - Same Clip with a Blur.

This will create a gradient for your blur. Hope this helps.

You also need to set the composite mode on the top clip to "Track matte Luma".
