I binged the first season of Jessica Jones last week, and MAN, what an emotional ride it took me on! The villain is played by the former Doctor Who hero, David Tennant, and he absolutely DESTROYS my preconceptions of his former good-guy roles. Davis made a terrific bad guy. The slow-burn, nip-and-tuck plot arc for the season did an amazing job of ratcheting up the tension and making you yearn for the happy ending like it was an unslaked thirst.
Clever overlap of minor characters with Daredevil made me glad I'd watched them both. Also a nice intro to the world of Luke Cage.
Netflix "gets" Marvel.
"trigger warning": If you have sensitivities about abuse cases, Jessica Jones takes you thru a Job-like succession of tortuous reversals and anxiety-pumping moments. It comes to a satisfying payoff that made me fist-pump and yell out loud, but the ride to get there is...intense.
