Spaights' version is much more straightforward and uncomplicated, while still keeping the big overall themes and most of the moments you remember from the finished film. You look at this script, and then you look at the finished film, and you have to assume this is another one of those situations where the Director becomes blind to the advice of underlings, and won't. stop. futzing. with the product, in an attempt to go just a little further.
I wonder if it can be re-edited or re-worked one day into a better version. Not completely, but at least to a degree. Kind of like how Blade Runner has a million different cuts. Maybe there are other takes they could use? But most likely that would be impossible without just re-shooting it. I've kind of given up on the Prometheus as a good movie dream. It's entertaining and watchable, but not good.
