Another great actor bites the dust. Karl Malden was never a pretty face in the movies, but what a character actor. Whether as a priest in On The Waterfront , or an outlaw killer of woman and children in Nevada Smith, or as Blanche DuBois' naive suitor in A Streetcar Named Desire (a role he also played on Broadway), Malden was one of those actors who wasn't acting, he was being. Unfortunately, they just don't make 'em like Karl Malden any more...

He was truly one of a kind. One of the most natural actors I can remember, especially having been around when so many leading men WERE "acting," and so stilted.

Have a wonderful day.
