Mac OS X 10.10.4
XDCAM Discs and SxS Cards appear on desktop. No problems transferring.
The problem is how to get the files from the cards and discs onto our RAID. Want something similar to what XDCAM transfer used to be, but it has been EOL'd for Yosemite. We edit the XDCAM native files rather than transcoding to another format like ProRes.
So I see three choices:
1) Adobe Prelude-when using Prelude, the entire disc structure is transferred to the RAID, not just the clips like XDCAM transfer. Just want clips.
2) Sony Catalyst-transfers just the video clips, but wow, slow and clunky.
3) Using Finder, select just the MXF files from the discs to the RAID. Also using Finder, transfer just the .mp4 files to the RAID. It works. It is fast. But what am I giving up?
I'd recommend Content Browser or Catalyst Browse, both free Sony applications that automatically transfer the whole file structure. OS copies (Finder copy/paste etc) will work but we strongly recommend using one of our utilities to manage the transfer.
