proxy files from Sony F800

Hello,

I have just been filming with the f800 and used my USB to create proxy files.

I have downloaded XDCAM browser, but when memory stick comes up with the message 'we need to format the disk before you use it' options to format or cancel??

does anyone know what i should do as i don't want to lose the footage?

many thanks
Tom

This is Browser 2.1? That sounds like a Windows/Mac error message. If the USB drive worked with the camera it had to have been properly formatted (Fat32 filesystem). What happens when you put it back on the camera?

Thanks for coming back to me. The camera was hired so it's gone back but when I tried to read the USB in a mac it didn't recognise and in windows asked to format?

Do you think the files haven't worked? Would really welcome any advice to avoid this problem again

Many thanks
Tom

I'm shocked that it worked on the camera and then wasn't recognized on the Mac. It had to have been formatted Fat32 to work with the camera, and this file system is more or less universal. Something had to have failed on the USB drive itself.
