Sony XDCAM F800 Moire Issues
on Feb 13, 2011 at 4:39:43 pm

Hi guys,
I'm running into a lot of moire issues on the XDCAM. I'm shooting at a 180 degree shutter, and I'm worried that, even with the detail lowered, the camera is still having moire problems on almost any set of vertical lines. Is there anything in the menu system that I'm not seeing that might be able to correct for this problem? It gets considerably better at a higher degree of shutter, but I don't want to shoot above 180.

thanks,
Steve

Steve,
I shoot with a PMW-500 which has the same CCD Block as the F800 and have not had any issues with Moire. What level is your detail setting? The camera is very sharp, so you might need to back it off more to reduce the problem.

Steve:

Is your F800 set in a progressive or interlace format when you get the moire?
