1080p vs 1080i on the Sony 700
on May 4, 2010 at 10:28:19 pm

I'm thinking of using the 700 for a project and the client needs final product in 1080i. I want to shoot 1080p, 29.97 but my post colleagues say we can't deliver in 1080i if we shoot 1080p. I'm stunned, because the specs say "MPEG HD422 mode:1920 X 1080/59.94i/29.97p". Can I capture in progressive on this camera and then deliver in interlace? Anyone??

Hello Neil...

Yes... you can capture 29.97 Psf - which gives you the nicer
smoother images - of progressive capture..

The individual frames are recorded - or transmitted as
"segmented frames" and appear to every piece of equipment
in line as good old ( 59.94 Interlaced )

The only difference is... .your footage will look so much better
than footage captured - interlaced...

We just shot a 7-camera show - cooking show at 30P....
featuring a very famous chef....

It airs on TV as a 1080i image.
