VANC settings for Closed Captioning
on Jan 23, 2010 at 8:05:12 pm

Jut ran into this Line 9 thing.
Figured out how to access the ANC settings -- they are different approaches for SR and HDcam!
And different for 1080 and 720!
The settings menus are described in the Maintenance Manual, not the User Manual -- thanks Sony, for letting us know who should be allowed to configure the machines.

Anyway, anything else other than setting up the ANC1 line for Closed Captioning in VANC?
Seems to be working, but as cryptic as it was to get it working in the first place, it has of course been said that there are things we know, things we know we know, unknown things we know we don't know and unknown things we don't know we know, and so on.

Just make sure that once you change the setting on the deck, you choose the NVRAM Set and save all and then reboot the deck, otherwise your setting won't take. And then, if you change system settings (resolution, frame rate, etc), you might have to change the metadata settings again...

If you are looking for how to store them on the machine, there are several steps. It's in the installation manual, pages 1-24 through 1-27.
