Mavericks and Maxx RAID?
on Apr 11, 2014 at 1:09:57 am

We have an older 8TB SAS RAID with an ARC-1221x card. It's installed in a Mid 2010 Mac Pro (8-core 2.4 GHz). I updated from Lion to Mavericks and now the system crashes/freezes/panics whenever the Maxx RAID unit is powered on. Clean install and latest ARECA driver did not solve the problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

you MUST update the firmware of your very old Areca ARC-1221x card.
you can get this information from the http://www.areca.com.tw website. Once you do the download
there are 4 files that must be updated to complete the firmware update.

you have a very very old card. You should consider updating your drive array. If your card is that old, it means that your drives are that old, and they are going to start to fail very soon.

Thanks Bob. Matt called and walked me through it. You guys are awesome. Maxx Digital will be my first call when I replace these aging drives.
