Scale/rotate of specific points (direct selected)...
on Jun 1, 2018 at 10:24:55 am

Seems like the simplest thing to accomplish & I'm just not winning with it:
I want to use direct selection and grab 2 or 3 points of my shape & then get a transformation box to scale, rotate, move ONLY those points ... can't for the love of me figure out how to do this.
Will greatly appreciate help.

I'm pretty sure Illustrator doesn't give you a bounding box on selected points -- at least I've never seen such -- but you can obviously use the rotate, scale and other tools on the selected points as well as drag to move them.

LOL... feel like such a fool... thanks so much for your help Kalleheikki Kannisto.
Because I never actually use the tools (rotate, scale etc.) individually ... (I always just select a shape & manipulate
handles on the box, or only MOVE points when directly selected... I've never actually known about the tools 😉

Thanks a bunch!

No problem. Sometimes it's the simple things that get you :D

To see a bounding box after selecting one or two points with the Direct Selection tool you can also use the Free Transform tool. First, select the points you wish to manipulate. Then select the Free Transform tool (Annoyingly hidden under the Puppet Warp tool!). This will place a bounding box around your selection, allowing you to move, Scale or rotate the selection.

cheers,

Interesting. Well hidden that tool is. Unfortunately it doesn't make a box around the selection, rather the entire object. But it does work -- at least until you undo, at which point it selects the entire shape again.
