Issues Creating a Bold Myriad Pro Font in Illustrator
on Mar 24, 2016 at 5:05:54 pm

Hi, I am a novice using Illustrator and am attempting to create myriad pro bold text- i have followed the instructions for this, and everytime I get a jumbled mess that looks like an inkblot. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

These are the steps I've been following:

1)Select text (V)

2)type -> create outlines

3)object -> path -> offset path

4)Select Offset:.4cm, Joins: Miter, Miter limit:4

5) Select ok

Well, as I see it, you may not be giving us all the information. :) The size of the font is very important to help you better... Now you get to experiment!

The important part is the ".4cm" in your offset path.

.4cm is a hard dimension that will give you different results based on the size of your text. If your original text is 6-12 (or even larger) all you will get IS a big blob. If your original text is 250pt, then the .4 will make little difference.

Try adjusting the offset from .005 to .1 (with preview results checked) and see what value you like for your artwork.

Good luck.

(Apart from getting the actual font) How about adding a stroke of the same color as the fill?
