flattened t-shirt pieces as texture for 3D model

In Illustrator I have the flattened pieces of a t-shirt (2 sleeves, front panel, back panel). The layout matches specific criteria given to me by my printer. Once I have my final design, I want to map those pieces together onto a 3D model of the t-shirt as it will sew together in real life.

My current solution is to have a custom model and UV map created in 3D software then import that into Photoshop Extended. Then I can export a jpg of the flattened Illustrator artwork and point to it as the texture for the 3D model in Photoshop. Needless to say, this is less-than-real-time.

Is there some sort of plugin or other solution you can offer that would allow me to see live updates of my finished/wrapped 3D t-shirt as I'm designing in Illustrator (maybe without needing to integrate Photoshop Extended)?

I do not have any 3D software like Cinema 4D or Maya on my workstation.
