how to colorize raster element?
on Sep 13, 2011 at 7:59:50 pm

I have a black and white texture that I've cut and pasted from photoshop into Illustrator (the texture is RGB). I want to tint it a different color. I can't. I've tried "Edit Colors" but there's nothing really available. The closest is "Adjust color balance" but it gives me these RGB sliders and it's kinda guesswork to get the color i want and I really need to match specific swatch colors.

I've found a work around where I put a colored rectangle over my texture in Screen mode. But i'm using this texture to fill type and there's a lot of overlapping and it's getting really messy. Is there any way just to color some raster image?

thanks

Save the image as a tiff bitmap file, which is going to make it very high contrast, and then import it on Illustrator, everything white will be gone, everything black you can colorize it any color you want from within Illustrator.
