Silly Beginner wanting to make a shape!

Hi guys!

I'm a beginner llustrator user, and I would really like to create the shape featured in the attached image below (the stand part).

I did try just drawing the left side freehand with the pen tool, then copying and mirroring, but, I would like to know if there is a clever way to maybe use an illustor default shape and manipulate it to make it symetrical and perfect lol :)

Eager to find out! Thank you! :D

I guess what I'm really after is how I would go about creating a symetrical *perfect* russian doll shape (would prefer not drawing freehand with pen tool!)?

I've attached an image below of 2 example doll shapes - I would love to know how to make both! One features a stand (like in the previous post), and the other is just rouded.

Have you try using the 3d revolve tool?

http://layersmagazine.com/illustrator-3d-revolve.html

just play with the setting in the dialog box to remove shading and highlights if you don't want it.
