Here's my dilemma. I created a map in Cartographica then exported an ai file and opened it in Illustrator. But now I have almost 4,000 identical small circles that pinpoint locations for my map. I want to stylize them using something like a web button symbol.

Is there anyway to select all of the dots and swap them all out for a symbol? I could apply an appearance to all 4000 of them but I think it would make the file so very much larger than it needs to be if I were just using symbols.

You could search the net to find a script to do it - if one exists. If not, you could write a script yourself.

Or just bite the bullet and do it manually.
