Cannot stetch shapes?

Hey im fairly new to illustrator, it has been working fine until recently.

With the normal cursor i cannot drag and stretch objects instead i have to use the specific tool, to scale objects.

This is really frustrating so even if it sounds like a stupid question you help would really be appreciated, thanks

im using adobe illustrator CS3

What pointer tool are you using? The white or the black one.

You can't scale with the white one, as this one is specifically for moving/selecting anchorpoints/lines. The black one is for moving/stretching entire objects.

in that case it sounds like you've accidentally hid your bounding boxes.

ctrl+shift+b toggles them back on (command+shift+b on a Mac).
