maybe simple.. parallel lines (stripes) all making the same curve maintaining distance

you see this a bit these days, and maybe im not savvy with the toolset enough in illustrator. you see 4 lines of equal thickness make a bend and they stay parallel. the inside line has the smallest radius to the curve and likewise the outside one has the largest. on this tangent you see this technique used to make cool retro wallpaper type patterns. any ideas?

look at http://www.iso50.com

even his main page has an offshoot of this. and all through the print section there are instances of this, as well as amazing wallpapering.

i know this guy is a design badass, but im just trying to figure how to bend a group of lines and contort them. another place you see this is some of the up next slates on mtv, there is this happening with parallel lines bent together. id also be curius if anyone knew any tricks to making interlocking wallpaper. i know about the define pattern, but is this kind of wallpapering done all by hand to larger than the comp size.

make an open path with a stroke on it. then use Object> Path> Offset Path repeatedly until you have enough stripes. next use Object> Path> Outline Stroke to turn your strokes into shapes.
