Pixel based to Vector Based Transfer
on Sep 5, 2005 at 2:42:21 am

I created a logo in Photoshop CS2 and it is pixel based at 1024x768 for fun--and well I actually like it a lot. Now I want to have a vector copy as well (i.e.) illustrator file. I have Illustrator CS2 but it really isn't my specialty-- I do more Photoshop and After Effects stuff than anything. Anyway I have tried using like trace to get my logo vectorized but it doesn't come out as good as I want. I have tried re-drawing it in Illustrator a number of times with no luck. I was hoping that maybe someone could give me a good direction to go in and if I can figure it out hopefully I could contract someone to quickly re-draw my logo to be vector based.

here is a place where you can view my logo matted on gray.

The quickest way in Illustrator to vectorize artwork is the Live Trace tool. The most reliable and cleanest method for vectorizing artwork is to use the pen tool.

Your logo is simple, just re-draw it with the pen tool. Shouldn't take more than 15min. to make the paths. Like Seth said it's the best way.
