Changing Text Color Based on Background/Image

I am unsure if this is the right place to seek help. It can either be After Effects or Photoshop.

I want to have a text inverted based on the color of an image in the background. Like, say a white text color for dark image backgrounds and black text color for lighter backgrounds. However I don't know if there is a specific effect to make that happen without having to selectively cut a portion of the text and inverting that portion. Said effect I want to use is the one that accurately detects the color range of the background and changes the text color to the opposite color.

Hi Daniel,

this is a pretty easy effect in Photoshop actually ☺

Your text should be on a separate text layer when you add it. Then simply select "Difference" in the Opacity pulldown menu when selecting the layer.

Hope this helps ☺
Tom
