How to create light trails like this?
on Jul 5, 2017 at 12:40:52 am

Hi guys

I have a couple of photos taken, in similar active states to the example below. My aim is to try and recreate the long exposure light trails as seen in this example. Does anybody know how to go about such a thing? Are there any programs that would make my life a little easier?

Thanks a lot

Hi Chris,

Check out this tutorial I found — might give you some pointers on how to achieve this effect

Best,

to create your own flames, use a brush shaped like a thin bar, slightly thicker on the ends. Then have that brush rotate as you paint in fairly directional paths. Use a blend or transfer function that builds up like screen or multiply and use a fairly low transparency or flowrate. As the brush rotates the edges build up and give you that cool intenside edge and gossamer middle.
There is also a package called Flame out there (free even) that will generate whispy's for you.
