Text to small and image pixelated in Photoshop o.O?
on Aug 19, 2008 at 10:33:30 pm

Hi, I'm new to this whole Adobe Photoshop CS3 thing, but I have a problem. You see, every time I try applying text to a background, the text is applied but the text is waay to small to read. It's like you only see a big square at the beginning. Secondly I tried placing a new image onto another new background that I've created. The image is VERY small compared to the background. So I decide to re-size it, but once I make it larger, the entire image ruined-it gets all pixelated. Please help thank you! For further information here are some images I've captured on my computer. Please take a good look at it! P.P.S I created two projects, one is the Title promo and the other one is the background effects.

The thing is, if you are going to set text in Photoshop, you have to design with a resolution in mind that can handle that text. If you are doing stuff for the web, you are stuck at 72DPI, which can't handle text that small.

SO the bottom line is, you need to start you project at a resolution capable of doing what you want, maybe 300 DPI.

If you started at a low res, you can't really increase it now because everything will be distorted.

Personally I never set small type in photoshop.

Text is vector... it ill scale up.

Pixel based photos will not

For low res stuff, be sure to adjust the anti-alias methods and experiment with font choice

So in others words I need to change the preset so that it matches the project that I'm doing? For example if I'm doing a picture for a website I should choose "Web" as my preset?
