Making a tile-able image

What is the basic work flow for making an image tile-able?

I need to create a very large texture (2000x1000) and have all the edges match up.

Thanks!

Dave,

trying making your texture tile at 128x128 pixels. This should give you a useable seamless tile (depending on your design)and assuming your background is divisible by 128 (height and width). Are you creating this from scatch? PS has some great default textures for tiling or you may be able to find free textures on the web.

If your design becomes too small, create a larger canvas, but make sure to keep it divisible by 128. (ie 256x256) or larger.

You can use the offset filter. This will "move" your image so you will be able to see the edges in the middle of you picture.

There, you can patch them to make them invisible. Your actual borders after using the offset filter already match one side with the other.

This process is good for textures.
