Editing existing Type/text
on Aug 30, 2007 at 6:24:41 pm

I checked the Adobe help and followed the instructions of
selecting the Type tool, select the layer and then click
in the existing text area to edit.

It keeps creating a new freakin' layer.

What am I missing?

I'm so tired of futzing with this.

There's times when I click in the text and it activates
where I can go ahead and make changes.
Why is this so random?

I'm sure it's some trick that photoshop users from years ago
know automatically.

HELP!

When I create a new layer and double click, with type tool selected, I'm able to edit the text.

It's just with previously created files that I open and want
to edit later that I can't make it work.

Double-click the T icon for the Layer in the Layers palette...

Might want to also watch Understanding Adobe Photoshop on iTunes.

Thank you Richard.
When I create a new layer and create some type and then want
to change the text, I CAN dbl clk on the T icon in the text layer. That's not the problem.

It's when I come back to a saved project and attempt the
same thing but it doesn't let me edit the text.
Dbl clking doesn't highlight the text, as when you're working
in the original project and clicking or next to the text
won't let me edit. That's the problem.

I will certainly watch the podcast you recommend.

Make sure you are saving as a layered file

I'll check that out.
I have been saving as a .psd, but from what you say,
I must pay more attention to the save settings options.
Thnx.

Make sure you are using Photoshop or layered TIFF and not Photoshop 2.0

I'm using CS2, but the file was created in PS 6.5.
