How do you "solo" or make active only one layer in PS?
I don't know the term PS uses so it is hard to use the help.
solo is an audio term for mixers.

You can opt/alt click the visibility (eyeball) icon next to the layer you want to solo. It's not quite as elegant as the system for soloing layers in After Effects, but it works.

The visibility switch is in the Layers palette to left of the layer name.

The eyeball is an icon to indicate an object's visibility.

Clicking the eyeball makes the object appear/disappear.
Alt/Option clicking makes all the other objects appear/disappear.

You can also click and drag through a number of visibility boxes to turn layers' visibility on or off.
