DISPLAYING fonts in 7.0?
on Dec 11, 2006 at 7:05:23 am

In the drop-down window for choosing fonts in Photoshop 7.0, is there any way to display SAMPLES of each font? I'm able to do it in Microsoft Word, for instance, so I'm able to see what my text looks like in dozens of different fonts at once... Is there any way to do that in Photoshop? Right now I have a hundred fonts listed, all in the same type, and it takes forever to sort through all of them.

Afraid not. Photoshop CS2 will show you a preview of the font right in the menu, but not CS, 7.0, or anything earlier.

What I used to do for picking fonts is this:
1. Type the text into the document.
2. Highlight the text.
3. Select the Font field in the options bar or the Character pallette. (Don't click the little drop-down arrow, just click the text name so it highlights.)
4. Use the arrow keys to move up and down the list. The text in the document will change as you do so.
