New File Preset for Video

Good day,

I am beginning my path of learning Photoshop CS. My question is what File presets are you using for 720x486 NTSC Video? Are you working with 720x540, 72 resolution, background (transparent) and Pixel Aspect Ratio (square)? If so how than are you saving the final file, ie., pct? What size, etc?

Thank you to all that may answer!!!

John

I use the presets in Photoshop (CS2, but CS has the same) to create 720x480, 0.9 pixel aspect ratio.

That's all that really matters. Sometimes I start with transparent, sometimes white, it depends on what I'm doing. The resolution doesn't matter. (Repeat after me: The resolution doesn't matter. The resolution doesn't matter. -- This is a hard lesson for many people to learn, but ppi/dpi resolution means exactly zero in video.)

I save my files as .PSD.

I use the 720x486 preset.

720 x 486
72 ppi
RGB
Transparent
D1/DV NTSC (0.9)

I'm resizing pict;s in photoshop that will be transfered for a video. they must be sized at a 4 by 3 percent or ratio. How do I do that. Is it crop procedure or an image file size change.
