What is the new hotkey for 'Delete' a Selected Fill and get a thin stroke in PS5?

I have been following along some tutorials on PSDtuts, including this helpful one on lighting:
http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/text-effects-tutorials/using-light-and-sh...

Skipping down to Step 8, the author says to move the selection Fill down and right 1 px and then hit Delete, which should leave what is effectively a thin stroke.

When I do this in PS5, the entire fill/selection is deleted.

This tutorial was published in 2007, so I am assuming hotkeys changed since then-- does anyone know the new hotkey?

I'm on CS6 and it's working as expected. You may have just not had the right layer selected or something.
