Convert PDF to JPEG without quality loss?
on Sep 16, 2013 at 8:04:21 pm

I'm trying to convert a PDF file to a JPEG and I am having an issue with a pretty substantial loss in image quality. Is there anything else I should be doing other than importing the PDF and then saving as a JPEG at the highest image level? Thanks.

It likely the quality of the PDF. Do you have acrobat and can you open the file and get the overall info about the file? I know a PDF saved as a 72dpi web version will be of really poor quality and there isn't much you can do for it.

Can you post the files?

Well, in that case, try opening the file(s) in Acrobat pro if you have it. Have a look at the image quality there. If you have a larger, higher-rez file, try loading that instead. I've never had much luck loading PDF files into Photoshop unless they are already print-ready (most are web-ready).

Using Photoshop, just use the command, "Save as", select "JPEG" then select the maximum quality from the list shown.

There are many utilities which can help you extract all your images and other form of graphics from PDF file(s). Why don't you try any of them? On the Internet, you'll find a wide range of online tools which can convert your PDF file(s) and JPEG format. There would be no need to download the software and no installation process would be required. I'm not sure about the image quality of the JPEG files which will be generated from the PDF file(s).

You can also try a third-party PDF Recovery tool that can provide high-quality JPEG files. I can recommend you SysInfoTools PDF Image Extractor tool here. It will extract all the images from the PDF file(s) and save them into JPEG format without causing their quality.

Go to http://www.sysinfotools.com/pdf-image-extractor.html to read more about this tool. You may also try its free demo version.

Thanks.

Hi Naitik, I tried your option but I had to pay to use it's functionality.
I found this one, seems to be free online-pdf.org. It has an option for Extraction and lossless. Hope this helps^^

No third party software is required if you have Acrobat Pro. In Acrobat Pro, go to Edit>Preferences, and then from "Categories" select "Convert from PDF."

Select the file type as JPEG, and then "Edit Settings." Set all the quality selections to HIGH, and then crank up the resolution as high as you want (or until it gets to be file-size prohibitive). The output resolution for jpegs can be up to 2400 pixels/inch.

I am totally agree with you on this. Actually this is an old post, that time may be it was not available for them. But I am glad that you have shared the steps here.
