Dynamic graphic template

I am wracking my brain trying to figure out the best way to do this. I have a client who wants a "magazine cover" style graphic template that has a few interchangeable fields. Each month they want to put new images and text onto this template and display it with something like MS Powerpoint on a TV, but they also want this template to be printable (ie, existing in 300 dpi or greater). Now, I could do all of this for them each month with Photoshop, but I want them to be able to do it on their own without bothering me with it. So, my question is 2 part:

1. Is there a better way to display a slideshow on a TV than ms Powerpoint? Are there TV's out there that can do a slideshow just by pulling images off a flash drive?

2. What software would be the best for my client to use so I can hand them a template with placeholders and they can swap out images and text (assuming they don't know/can't afford Photoshop)?

Any help would be appreciated.
