We recently upgraded to CS5 on our mac workstations, and came across an optional plugin install for Photoshop which included a Softimage .pic format plugin which allows for importing XSI files into Photoshop.
The only problem is that it takes a REALLY long time (6 min on average) to open up just one file. I am a bit disheartened by this, as I have been told by the PC folk in the 3D department that there is a 3rd party plugin for windows that will open Softimage files relatively quickly (a few seconds on average). The plugin is PC only, though.
Is there any way to speed up this process? Any extra settings I may have missed? Or does anyone know of any other way to get a .pic file into Photoshop CS5 on the mac? The workstation we are testing this on is a quad core Intel with 8GB of RAM, with a fresh, from the ground up, system install. So I don't think there is any system clutter behind this issue.
